Maurice "Fightin Mike" Gravel, Springfield Massachusetts' bravest son, has announced his decision to give up on the Democratic party and seek the endorsement of the Libertarians in his "under the radar" quest for the presidency. The move drew immediate criticism from Ralph Nader supporters, who characterize Gravel as a "spoiler" third party candidate whose only real effect will be to siphon off votes for Nader and allow a Republican or Democratic victory in November.
