A Major Find: Gator Edition

Some animals, like coyotes and armadillos, I have waited years to take a decent picture of, to no avail! Other animals I never dared think I would run across in the wild; the gator is such an animal.

So imagine my surprise when, at a rest stop on the Texas side of the Texas/Louisiana border, I encountered two wild gators. There was swamp land behind the rest stop with a viewing deck. There they were, the smaller one, I got the best shot of, the larger kept herself better hidden, though I managed to snap on clear photo.

Bass Master

During my trip to East Texas last weekend I finally met a real live BASS MASTER. While I was target practicing with a 12 gauge shotgun next to the pond, this guy fished out this large mouth bass. Notice the mouth and you'll see where this bass got its name. Definitely a change from the last Fish Master post I put up on this blog.Unfortunately for us, a calf had just drowned in the pond and we were concerned that it's putrefying body might have poisoned the local fish, so we threw this Large Mouth back, rather than risk eating him. There's always next time!
