Captive Coyote

OK. This doesn't really count in terms of my quest to capture a wild coyote on film. Martha was an orphan raised by humans on a ranch. They moved to Houston where the neighbors didn't like her so she was donated to this Austin Nature Center. She was basically tame like a dog, and kept under extreme security. It was still cool to finally snap a coyote though. THANKS MARTHA!

Urban Tree Chickens (sleeping)

Here are a pair of Urban Tree Chickens that were roosting in trees late one night in East Austin, Central Texas. I suspect they roosted there to hide from the Coyotes who I have spotted in this part of Austin. Coyotes are notoriously difficult to capture on film. I have tried for years both in the Southwest and on the Eastern Seaboard and have never managed, though I was once charged by a Coyote pup. Chickens are perhaps one of the favorite meals of coyotes.
