Cardinals are incredibly camera shy. Its bizarre because I see them around enough, but the second I break out my digital, off they go. Perhaps they worry about being hunted for their bright red plumage. This picture, for example, I took through a window on the second floor of our dilapidated old barn at my parents' house in Massachusetts. I had to push the zoom up as high as I could and rest the camera on the window pane to keep it steady. All things considered it came out pretty well, though I hope to bring you a better insight into the nature of the the cardinal before the end of the winter.
